I visited Sumner Elementary School on May during the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Brown v Board decision. It was interesting to be inside of Sumner, which closed as a school in 1997 (it functioned in a couple different capacities since then). Due to a lack of electricity, the advertised "open house" was limited to walking through the main doors of the school. It was still a very interesting experience to walk the grounds. I took pictures of the front of the building for my Topeka Ruins series four years ago and I was happy to finally be to see the entire outside of the building
